FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH It’s back to school time, so take a little time to do a Skills and Knowledge/Wisdom Gua review. This area is located in the front left-hand area of the home or a room from where you enter through the door. That’s the entire one-ninth of the home or room - not just the teensy weensy "corner" of the home or room where two walls come together (I’m on to some of you!*winks*) For those of you who know this gua’s trigram, it is the still, unmovable mountain. So, if you’re looking for a traditional symbol that speaks to this area of the home, a piece of art that depicts a mountain would be a wonderful addition to this space. I’ve seem people feel the contemplative chi of the mountain by hiding mountain pics that they tore out of a calendar, so this can be an easy and cheap recommendation. If you want to get a little deeper, try adding earth element of any kind as earth is the element for is area. A large stone, or even a bowl of pebbles can start to anchor your wisdom in this area. Earth tones, and earthy items like pottery and bricks are winners too. My office falls into this part of my house as well as my storage room/library where I have my bookshelves and books (wood element) there (to symbolize knowledge) as well as items that reflect each of the other elements to balance the space out (since wood is not the element that I want to dominate in this area.) The relationship gua is also a place to check out this time of year for a couple of reasons: 1. "Early fall" is the time of year for this gua, and 2. It is the counter balance to skills and knowledge area on the other side of the bagua. If you are unaware, earth is the element associated with this part of the bagua as well, so double up with earth by enhancing the "front, left" and "back, right"- hand part of your homes or rooms to make the best of this time of year!
